Marvel One-Shots

marvelAgCarter_Mini_13x20_v8_HRIn view of the newest Marvel One-Shot: “Agent Carter” being released on the Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray in the coming days, I decided to point out what a great job Marvel has done up to now with these short films, which are included in the Blu-Ray releases of the Thor, Captain America, The Avengers and Iron Man. Marvel’s One-Shots are, as their name suggests, short one-off clips featuring characters from the Marvel universe in various times. Their tone is often comedic, and explore different aspects of new and old characters which would have been off-topic if they were to be incorporated in the plot of the feature films, but in total cohesion with the ‘verse as a whole.

The first one, “The Consultant“, was released back in 2011 and was featured on Thor Blu-Ray. It presents Agents Coulson and Sitwell discussing about Baner and Blonsky. They decide to send “The Consultant” to…mainly fail in transferring Blonsky to the Initiative.

This one is entirely focused on Agent Coulson and the unfortunate robbers who happen to cross his path.

The setting is at the aftermath of the destruction of New York by aliens in the Avengers movie, and deals with humans using Chitauri technology.  This one runs longer than the previous ones (over 10mins), so it is hard to find it online. However, since I’m such a good trooper you can watch it at this Asian website.

The latest short “Agent Carter” follows the life of Peggy Carter a year after the events that took place in Captain America: The First Avenger. Marvel has released 2 official excerpts of the film.  Additional scenes not shown in the clips below exhibit Carter’s efforts to prove herself in a man-made world.

In the true fashion of the Marvel movies, there is also an after-credits scene on some of the videos. So be sure to watch the credits. Special mention should be made to the music soundtrack and the end credits of these short films.

(P.S.: You can play a drinking game and have a shot every time you read the word Marvel in this text)
