random ramblings of an unconscious mind
Since the tickets for Doctor Who 50th Celebration event were released today, i decided to check it out. Tickets are selling fast! In fact tickets for Saturday and Sunday have sold out. Apparently there are many Whovians out there. Friday tickets are still available but i expect to be sold out before the day is over.
For those of you who are not aware, on 22, 23, 24 November at London’s exhibition and convention center ExCeL, there will be a celebration of all things Doctor Who. Whovians from all over the world will dress up as their favorite doctor, companion or villain and will go to ExCeL to attend panels and workshops, take photographs with the stars of the series, autographs and buy exclusive merchandise.
Here is a lowdown on what will take place during that weekend.
Walk like a Monster : workshops to teach you how to walk like a monster. Ailsa Berk, the Movement Choreographer for Doctor Who, will be welcoming potential monsters of all ages four times daily – there’s no need to book in advance, simply turn up and join in!
Regenerations: These will be audience Q&A sessions, so get thinking of those questions you’ve always wanted to ask about travelling in the TARDIS, working with K-9 or what Tetrap food is really made of… Featuring TOM BAKER*, COLIN BAKER and SYLVESTER McCOY. *Please note that TOM BAKER will only be appearing on Saturday 23rd November.
The Eleventh Hour : panels featuring the current cast and crew, including MATT SMITH. Take a seat in the theatre and prepare to be entertained…and you might even get to ask your question. This panel is 45 minutes long.
The Doctor Who Quizzes: divided to Pub Quizzes and Family Quizzes to accommodate all fans no matter their age. No need to pre-book.
Stunt School: highly-skilled team of stunt co-ordinator, Crispin Layfield, and Doctor stunt double, Gordon Seed, will be on hand four times a day to put you through your paces and help you learn some easy stunts. No pre-booking necessary.
Autographs: pre-book the autographs you’d like to buy when you arrive at the event
SFX Show: exclusive show produced and presented by special effects supervisor Danny Hargreaves.
More events will be announced soon
Let’s get down to the math of the convention:
Regular tickets cost
VIP Tardis tickets cost
Photograph sessions with cast members cost £20
Autographs cost £15
Exclusive T-shirts cost £20
All-in-all i think that Doctor Who fandom will cough-up mucho-dinero in order to have an immersive experience to the world of the Doctor.
