3rd Athens Open Air Film Festival

3oOpenAirfestivalAthens Open Air Film Festival has entered its 3rd year of operation. It is a free admission film festival, taking place at various locations all over Athens (GR), throughout the summer period, thus transforming parks, squares and places of cultural interest to gathering spots for the local residents, as well as cinephiles.

This year the festival was inaugurated with the Greek premiere of “Before Midnight“, which was attended by the film’s cast & crew. The screening was held @ Pallas Theater and admittance was solely through invitations. On 29 June the first open-to-the-public outdoor screening took place @ Akadimia Platonos Archaeological Park, where we had the pleasure of re-watching a beloved film, The Big Chill. At this point i should also mention that Fischer beer is sponsoring the screenings, distributing free beer to the attendees (even if i do not drink beer, this goes up as “brownie points” for the festival in my book; since they provide a cool drink during these hot nights).

As it is evident, there is a plurality of subject matters screened. Personally, i have been attending the festival since its inception, and will continue to support this worthy initiative.
