random ramblings of an unconscious mind

Skins7castIf you ever watched the UK teen drama Skins on Channel 4, you will be as delighted as I am, to know that season 7, which will also serve as the series finale, will feature some of the old cast. Channel 4  mentioned that the seventh series will be “a celebration of this truly iconic series” featuring characters from all three generations in a three-part series. Skins 7 is written by series creators Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain alongside Jess Brittain. They will use these characters in order to go into new territory; more adult, more uncompromising.

Former Skins star Hannah Murray will reprise her role as Cassie, Jack O’Connell as Cook and Kaya Scodelario as Effy. Each of them will have three individual stories entitled Skins Pure (Cassie), Skins Rise (Cook), and Skins Fire (Effy). Additionally Lily Loveless (Naomi) and Kat Prescott (Emily) will be guest starring.

Each two part story centres on the characters now in their early twenties; the party’s over and they’re starting out as young adults, struggling to find a direction and a focus in unforgiving times. Where are they now (on the Skins ‘verse)?

Skins pureCassie (23) is in London, alone and invisible, trying to make sense of her life. She gradually becomes aware that someone is following her, and she turns towards the unknown, forming a friendship out of mutual loneliness. Their friendship will be tested in the real world.

Cook (21) works delivering drugs to Manchester revellers. Skins rise1As usual, he finds himself in trouble, falling for his employer’s girlfriend which will lead to a spiraling course of revenge and violence. This story ark will also reveal the truth, as to what happened to John Foster.

Effy (21) works at a dead-end job as a receptionist for a leading London Hedge Fund. She shares a flat with Naomi. Skins fireThings get more complex as she stumbles upon some financial information relating to a troubled deal, and forms an affair with her boss. Emily also returns due to a tragic event.

Below you can watch the amazing trailer for the upcoming season, which will premiere on July 2013.
