MoMath @ NYC

MoMath or Museum of Mathematics was inaugurated in Manhattan, NYC on 15 December 2012. The museum is located on 11 East 26th Street and aims to engage its attendees to the wonderful world of mathematics. I have to admit that i am intrigued and cannot wait for an opportunity to visit it, since my impression of the museum is more like tumbling down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland. It is colorful (the colors do carry a resemblance to google’s) and interactive, demonstrating connections between math and other popular activities like music, sports etc employing the premise that math is in everything that surround us.  Those who have been there describe it as a high-tech playground, expanding on 19,000 square feet with 30 attractions on two floors aiming to celebrate math and engage the senses.

As any self-respecting museum, MoMath is hosting interesting events, fun activities, a shop where you can spend your  money on geeky products and the Enigma Cafe where you can rest and replenish your strength, while solving puzzles. You can even apply for job there if you think you got what it takes.

Below you will find a gallery of images from MoMath that will wet your appetite for a visit.
