random ramblings of an unconscious mind
So I will end this thread of apocalyptic posts with a series a friend of mine pointed out; Doomsday Preppers! This a National Geographic series presenting people who live their lives preparing for the worst case scenario, whatever that may be; flood, earthquake, hurricane, nuclear threat, virus outbreak, electromagnetic pulse, fuel shortages, economic collapse etc. After watching some of the clips i was amazed in the lengths that these people are planing ahead for catastrophes and calamities. They take combat courses, food supplies, shelters, make evacuation plans, i mean their whole life is planned according to a hypothetical threat, which might very well be plausible, however is that a way to pass the time? They most certainly will be better prepared than me and you, but living your life under constant fear of an uncertain end of the civilization, seems a little futile to me. Nevertheless, that might be the way of dealing with fears and anxieties for some people, giving them strength.
There are also the Practical Preppers who are experts that evaluate and point out the errors, making suggestions to the people on the series. Moreover, you can even take the quiz to see how you fare on being prepared when faced with a dire situation, i know i felt underprepared by watching the series. An app game was also generated, in which you can build your ideal bunker, get supplies etc. The series is one of the highest rated for National Geographic, and i have to admit that it is highly informational, providing ideas and tips if i ever need them, like the fact that a lollipop can be used as a weapon!!!
