random ramblings of an unconscious mind
The Hobbit is about to embark on a long journey – a three year journey to be exact, since that is the waiting time for the public to watch the three film installments by Peter Jackson. The first film will be entitled An Unexpected Journey, followed by The Desolation of Smaug, and concluded with There and Back Again.
I am amazed, and many others i presume, on how this average-lengthed book could become three movies, but i guess Jackson wants to be faithful to the book, and will omit nothing.
The promotion of the first film has been phenomenal so far. There is a wide variety of merchandise fans can order from hobbitshop.com including iphone cases, official replicas, tshirts, mugs, posters, jewelry, toys, collectibles etc. Air New Zealand has decorated its aircrafts with images from the film, and the airport at New Zealand features sculptures like the Gollum. Air New Zealand also issued a special safety video for the Middle Earth:
However, what i would like to try out the most is Denny’s special hobbit menu, which includes dishes like Hobbit Slam, Hobbit Hole Breakfast, Shire Sausage Skillet, Frodo’s Pot Roast Skillet, The Ring Burger, Gandalf’s Gobble Melt, Dwarves’ Turkey & Dressing Dinner, Lonely Mountain Treasure, Radagast’s Red Velvet Pancake Puppies, Bilbo’s Berry Smoothie and Lone-Lands Campfire Cookie Milkshake. They look lovely, no? Unfortunately these are reserved for the US public.
If you live in Athens, GR, and want to attend a preview screening of the first film you could try out scoring some invites by sending a blank text message to 54054 (no charge) for a 3D screening on 11 December. Also, LG is hosting a competition on its Facebook page providing tickets to another screening on the 13th of December.
