Music Documentaries @ Institut Francais

CineDoc, along with the British Council and the French Institute have a series of award winning documentaries showcased throughout the wintertime, which are worth checking out.

This week they present two music documentaries about two individuals who have greatly affected their era; Lennon and Cohen. The Day John Lennon Died (60min runtime) by Michael Waldman  and Bird on a Wire (106min runtime)  by Tony Palmer. The first one concerns the news of John Lennon’s assassination, including testimonies of the people who came into contact with him, while the latter follows Leonard Cohen in 1972, during the ups and downs of his tour.

Both documentaries have won Grierson Awards, and will be screened on Wednesday 14 November, at the French Institute (Sina 31) at 8pm and 9pm respectively. Tickets cost 6€ and are available at Ianos bookstore (Stadiou). You can check the Facebook event page for more info.

There will be parallel screenings of these documentaries, at a later time, at Danaos cinema (Athens), at Pavlos Zanas and Cinema Museum (Thessaloniki) and at Lithografeion Theatre (Patras).
