Locke & Key from pages to the screen

Locke & Key is a mystery/horror comic series by Joe Hill (Stephen King’s son, the resemblance is apparent), which i truly believe it to be cursed or something. Studios have been interested in this wonderfully creepy story about the Locke family moving to the Key house/mansion type, which in a gist, has many doors that transform those who unlock them, altering their identity. However, I was beginning to think that the same supernatural entity governing the Keyhouse estate was boycotting the project.

At first Fox had commissioned a pilot episode, the trailer of which was equal doses of creepy and intriguing. The pilot was screened at NY Comic Con and San Diego Comic Con, where fans were thrilled about the prospects of the series. However, Fox did not seem to agree due to the galloping budget expenses, scheduling issues etc, canceling the series before it was even aired. It has been my mission to discover this pilot episode and watch it, so if you know anyone who might be able to help me with that, please contact me. I am very curious to see the delivered product.

Then there were rumors that MTV being interested in a Locke & Key adaptation to the small screen, which also yielded no fruit. Alas, the curse might be lifted. This week, the fans rejoiced as it was announced that the comic will become a trilogy of films by Universal Pictures! The films will be written and produced by Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci, who also worked on the pilot of the series. It is yet uncertain if any additional Locke & Key pilot-alumni will be associated with the trilogy.

In order to have an idea of what the fans are expecting, take a look at the trailer of the cancelled series:

“However, I was beginning to think that the same supernatural entity governing the Keyhouse estate was boycotting the project.” My thoughts exactly. Aν δεν το δω δεν το πιστεύω ότι θα γίνει.
