random ramblings of an unconscious mind
Remember, remember the 5th of November! The day practically screams for it. Even though i no longer inhabit the realm of the United Kingdom, there is some relevance to celebrating this holiday in Greece this year since David Lloyd, the illustrator of V for Vendetta graphic novel, which then spun off to a major movie, bringing Guy Fawkes to the rest of the world, has been this past weekend at the 14th Athens International Comic Festival, talking with fans, giving interviews, signing books etc. He may no longer be there in person but his exhibit is, and what better way to celebrate 5th of November, than taking a stroll through the original designs.
Moreover, AICF has used interactive technology that allows the visitors to sit in front of a mirror which then turns the person’s reflection into V’s mask.
There are many more things to watch, read, buy, and hear at the festival. You can make a day of it, since it has 2 floors full of exhibit rooms, an auditorium where screenings and lectures/discussions take place, whereas at the ground floor one can rest at the bar, recoup his energy, watch theater performances or bands. Here is a link to the activities’ schedule.
Personally i opted for the 10day pass, instead of the single day ticket, since it was twice the price and you could visit the festival as many times as you want.
Other fun things at AICF include Heineken’s photo-booth, and ION’s exhibition room.
Below there are some pictures from the festival of things i really enjoyed like the poster of Romeo and Juliet finally brought together at Thessaloniki’s poster design exhibition.
