random ramblings of an unconscious mind
One of my guilty pleasures is America’s Next Top Model. I do not mind admitting that i like watching the photo-shoots, challenges, and discuss it with my siblings (it has evolved into a family event, which even my mom has recently embraced by voicing her opinion).
This cycle is quite different from the previous 18, shaking up things a bit and i am not sure if i prefer it or not. There are three major changes this time around:
The main reason i am ambivalent on these changes is because i dearly miss the previous judging panel and entourage. Nevertheless, the fact that viewers can voice their opinion and preferences is a great step forward, since fans’ votes are included in the scoring process, and accumulated towards the elimination of contestants. The final change in the format of the series is that all girls will have an opportunity to return to the show.
The viewers can watch short videos narrating the photo-shoots of the eliminated girls competing for a chance to prove their talent in modeling, and thus return to the show. These videos are entitled ANTM’s Comeback Series, and are available either at CW’s official website or on youtube (which is convenient for people who do not live in the US).
This week’s episode, entitled “The Girl Who Comes Back” ended with a major cliffhanger, since the remaining 5 contestants, along with the fans’ favorite from the comeback series will travel to Jamaica. However, just before Tyra announced the results, the episode ended, causing me frustration. It was truly an “Oh No She DIDN’T” moment!
