Neil Gaiman & Philip Pullman in conversation about fairytales

Philip Pullman, mostly known for the trilogy “His Dark Materials”, will be discussing about fairytales with non-other than Neil Gaiman, at a ticketed event in London, on 29 October.

The event entitled GRIMM TALES: TELLING STORIES / Philip Pullman in conversation with Neil Gaiman will entail a discussion between two great storytellers about the fascination of fairytales, in view of Pullman’s new book, Grimm Tales, which revisits the stories by the Grimm Brothers.

According to Pullman, the goal of his adaptation is to tell “the best of the tales in my own voice, and I’m finding it a great purifier of narrative thinking, rather as a pianist relishes playing Bach’s preludes and fugues as a sort of palate-cleansing discipline.”  He chose 50 of his favorite stories, including Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel, as well as “lesser-known tales as The Three Snake Leaves, Hans-My-Hedgehog and Godfather Death.”

The event, which is hosted prior to Halloween – such a befitting time – will take place in the surroundings of the Cambridge Theater; currently showcasing the West End production of Matilda.  Following the event, there will be limited signing, for books purchased on the night.
