NBC’s “Revolution”

NBC’s new post-apocalyptic action-drama “Revolution” utilized the social media in a way that provided power to the public. Through the series’ facebook page users residing in USA could vote the cities in which they wished to host a preview screening of the pilot episode of the series. As an outcome the following cities will be hosting public screenings: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City and Seattle.

Specifically for NYC, the screening of JJ Abram’s new series, will take place on September 4. 1,000 guests will be hosted on Hudson River Park’s Pier 57.The screening will truly be “powered by the people” as 80 power pedalers dramatically pedal bicycles, manually generating the power to support the screening. Thus the screening will be true to the spirit of the story line, in which a major black out renders all electronic equipment useless. Guests are encouraged to bike or walk to the screening and bike valet will be provided.

Hint: Time Out Magazine gives away 100 reserved seats, plus 20 power pedaler seats.

Screenings in the remaining cities will take place on September 6, while the series will have its broadcast debut by NBC on September 17.
