random ramblings of an unconscious mind
It has come to my attention that there are some interesting summer camps for adults in Greece, which usually include a kind of seminar/workshop.
An example of that is the “Swing ‘n’ Swim” which took place at Armenistis Camp in Halkidiki on 6-10 June. This event was hosted by Lindy Hop and included 6 hours of classes 5 parties with live bands and DJs from Sweden and Greece 2 hours lecture for the swing dance and swing jazz music and 1 hour show from the top teachers and performers in the world! This is an annual event, organized for three years now.
Another similar event is Comicdom’s Summer Camp which will be taking place at Kalavrita, from 25-30 July, and will feature seminars and workshops on comic designing and coloring for ambitious comic designers, in English, by Rufus Dayglo and D’Israeli.
It seems to me that adults seek a way to relive their childhood camp experiences but in a more targeted way than when they were kids, joining groups with similar interests and hobbies. This is a more conscious choice of camp, than when they were enrolled in a camp by their parents as adolescents. I realized that this is something that people have been doing for years now by going to summer music festivals camps. They seek to have a joint experience with other like minded people.
